Healthcare Resources 2026

As we enter 2026, our US-based dance community is facing a critical turning point. The federal "enhanced" health insurance subsidies officially expired at midnight on December 31. Without these credits, monthly premiums for many in our field are projected to more than double this month.

What You Need to Know (Right Now):

  • The January 15 Deadline: Dancers must enroll in a 2026 plan by January 15 to have coverage. Even if Congress passes a retroactive fix in late January, you must have an active plan for it to apply. Enroll at Healthcare.gov

  • Expanded "Hardship" Access: For 2026, new federal guidance allows dancers of any age to enroll in "Catastrophic" plans if marketplace premiums exceed roughly 8% of their income. These plans have lower monthly costs and are a vital "emergency backup" to prevent dancers from going uninsured.

  • State-Level Lifeboats: If you are in California, New Mexico, Connecticut, or Maryland, check your state exchange immediately. These states have allocated emergency funds to help offset the federal loss.
