Do you want to contribute to shaping the leadership of IADMS in the future? Consider applying to join the Nominating Committee. We are seeking three new members to join this committee for 2025-2029.
What do we do?
The Nominating Committee is charged with reviewing, updating, and implementing an equitable process for nominating a strong slate of candidates to serve on the IADMS Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee is currently composed of seven (7) voting members with balanced perspectives and representation from all areas of IADMS’ diverse membership.
What is required?
- You will be expected to be an IADMS Member in good standing.
- Good judgement and the ability to assess skill sets, expertise, experience, and varied perspectives that are useful in putting together a cohesive and collaborative slate.
- Maintain professional confidentiality.
- An understanding of the IADMS Mission and Vision, as well as past and present IADMS initiatives is necessary.
What is involved?
Meetings 2 hours length every 2-3 months, across your 4-year term. Additional time (approximately 6 hours) outside of meetings is required to review applications and interview candidates. This process will occur in the first quarter of 2027 and 2029 (Jan-March). There may be small follow up administration tasks between meetings.
The commitment would be a 4-year term. If you accept the position, this will mean that you cannot run for the Board for at least 4 years. After the conclusion of your committee term.
Timeline for Selecting the Slate of the Board of Directors At-Large
During the year of board elections (odd calendar years):
November-December - Open call for Board nominations
First Quarter - The Nominating Committee reviews applications, evaluates candidates, and identifies a slate of candidates equal to the number of open positions.
April - The slate is submitted for approval at the April board meeting.
Second Quarter - The ‘board-approved slate’ is submitted to the membership for a vote. The IADMS Bylaws indicate that this should occur at least four months prior to the Annual Conference.
Annual Conference - New board members are invited to attend the board meeting held in conjunction with the Annual Conference. New board terms begin at the conclusion of the Annual Conference.
How do I apply?
Any member who is interested in serving on the Nominating Committee is invited to apply here. The application includes a brief statement which should describe the member’s background, examples of work within IADMS and the dance medicine and science community in the last few years, and the skills they wish to offer the committee.
Deadline to Apply: July 6, 2025, by 11:59am EST.
